💗 What I liked most:
🛑 What could be improved:
Wave Sport and Fitness website lists all sorts of plastic alternatives that the company is using for its shipping and packaging, including hemp and mushroom plastic (exciting!). So you can imagine my disappointment when my order arrived in an ordinary plastic bag.
I even clarified this issue with the brand's representative to see if I was just being silly and the packaging was actually some plastic substitute that looked like plastic.
Unfortunately, what looked like plastic was actually plastic. But apparently the brand is working on the packaging at the moment. Here's a response I've received:
My gifted set of yoga shorts and a bra is called Pink Scream. And what can I say – the pattern lives up to its name. The colors are super bright and vivid. If you're into statement activewear and like to be noticed, you'll love it.
Since I'm more of a "basic no patterns activewear girl," wearing shorts and a top at the same time sometimes feels overwhelming. Instead, I like to mix and match them with my calmer sports pieces to add a little funky flair to my outfit. Besides, since the pattern includes so many shades, color combinations are plenty.
By the way, all designs come directly from Wave Sport and Fitness in-house team. Here's a comment from the brand representative:
If you're looking for solid activewear that's not boring, Wave Sport and Fitness also creates activewear pieces in bright and unusual colors.
Fun fact: All sports bras have a customizable feature. You can choose the color of the stitching that runs around the edge. You can opt for black or white.
Wave Sport and Fitness shorts have an inner pocket, which is always a pleasant add-on feature for yoga bottoms.
That said, I’m not a huge fan of a pocket in these shorts. It’s just too bulky even when empty and needs to be adjusted every time you put your shorts on. When you stuff it with keys and some cash, it creates a weird hump in your side.
But there’s one thing I disliked more than an inner pocket – tags. Cutting the tags off means you’ll have a residue material chafing into your sides. Which, in its turn, defies all the purpose of flatlock seams that are supposed to make the garments as comfortable as possible. Maybe that’s something the brand can work on in the future.
The Wave Sport & Fitness shorts are truly high-waisted – just how I like. They cover the belly bottom and offer a good amount of shaping for the tummy. An extra elastic on the top of the waistband keeps the shorts in place during active movement. Be mindful though - it creates a risk of a muffin top.
The shorts feature a thick front and back seam, which in my opinion, looks very flattering at the back and accentuates the booty.
These shorts are very short. The inseam is about 7 cm/~4 in, plus they do tend to ride up just like any kind of active shorts. If the length bothers you, the brand also offers a variety of capris and leggings.
The bra is cut in a racerback style, so it can be easily worn as a casual top. The straps are a bit scrunched, so they sit very close to the body, and there’s no awkward sagging of fabric during movement. I think that’s a really cool and well-thought-out feature.
The coverage is great both from the front and from the sides. Even though I have an almost zero cup size, I feel the bra would offer good support and cover all the right places even for larger chest sizes. Besides, the bra comes with removable padding cups that definitely add to support and shaping.
I do feel the underband is a little too tight. It didn’t loosen up over time as I expected it would (which probably is a good thing if we’re talking about durability), so if you happen to be in between sizes in your bra, I’d definitely recommend sizing up.
Forget about naked-feel Lulu. The Wave Sport and fitness pieces are incredibly stretchy and move with you whether you're running, doing yoga, or squatting with a barrel.
I love how the fabric feels on my skin. It is so buttery soft that simply wearing it feels like self-care!
I've been working out in this set a loooot over these few months because of how comfortable and flattering they are. I did find the bra a bit less comfortable than shorts, but I believe this is just an issue of sizing. I went for my usual XS size that often ends up slightly loose because of how flat-chested I am. But I keep thinking that I should have sized up to S.
The bra is still comfy and stretchy for a workout, but it's not the bra I'd be wearing on a rest day, chilling on my couch.
In terms of performance, this brand lives up to its promises.
Both shorts and the sports bra are super breathable. When the temperature hit above 30 degrees, it's hard to find activewear that doesn't feel suffocating. I tested the test on the hottest summer days, and I never felt overheated.
If you do break a sweat, no worries because the fabric doesn't show any stains. It dries fast, and more importantly, doesn't stink after a few workouts straight.
I've worn the set for a variety of workouts, including yoga, weight lifting and cardio. I love how supportive the bra is and how stretchy the shorts are. I've never felt restricted in any of the movements.
I've put Wave Sport & Fitness activewear through a rigorous testing process for over 4 months. Since I try to work out every single day, both shorts and bra have been worn a ton as well as machine washed multiple times.
Here's what's happened in terms of durability:
If you want to get the most of your Wave Sport & Fitness set, wash it inside out and hang dry instead of using the dryer. Also, don't forget to use a Guppyfriend bag to prevent microfiber from getting into the waterways.
Wave Sport & Fitness offers a good size range - which doesn't always happen with activewear brands. Their leggings come up to 6 XL size, sports bras up to 2xl, and swimwear up to 3xl.
It's pretty easy to find your size for short and long bottoms since all the measurements are given in inches and centimeters.
Bras, on the other hand, are a bit of a toughie. Upon opening the size guide, you'll have to find the right fit based on your bra and cup size. Which probably wouldn't be a problem if all the bras in the world would use the same sizing. Unfortunately, 34 bra size of one brand doesn't necessarily fit the same as size 34 of the other brand.
I suppose adding accurate measurements in cm and inches would make finding the right size much easier.
You'll love Wave Sport & Fitness activewear if you:
- like to be noticed and feel bored with your black leggings
- are searching for top-notch performance pieces that move and stretch with you
