Founded in 2014, Organic Basics makes eco-friendly basics out of organic cotton, Tencel, and recycled materials.
Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world, having a direct negative impact on the environment. They create an environmentally friendly alternative.
A great deal of information about where Organic Basics' products are made can be found on their website.
They have factories in Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Austria, and Scotland.
You can size up if you're in between sizes and like a loose fit, but in general, it fits true to size. From my personal experience, most of their items run a little big. That said, when I buy thongs or bras, I often size up.
There is a high proportion of organic cotton and other eco-friendly materials such as Tencel in their product line.
Thanks to using more environmentally friendly materials and optimizing their manufacturing process, they use less chemicals, water, and energy during the production process.
I'd say they are one of the most ethical companies around.
Organic Basics was founded in 2014 in Denmark.
Organic clothing is always made of natural fibres derived from plants that haven't been treated with pesticides or any other harmful chemicals.
To save water, refine fabrics, and finish garments, natural fertilisers and controlled biological methods are often used.
Tencel is made of wood pulp and is somewhat similar to rayon modal, and viscose.
Each of these kinds of cellulose fibres is manufactured in a similar way: the cellulose pulp is dissolved into the water and turned into a sludge, which is then dried through a process called spinning.
That said, Tencel is considered as the most eco-friendliest fiber since it's treated with low-toxicity chemicals (compared to modal or viscose), 99% of which are re-used. Besides, Tencel doesn't require bleaching like most natural fibers do.
Yes, they ship to Canada. There is no charge for shipping to Canadian and American addresses over $100 at Organic Basics.
There are shipping options available for Organic Basics in every country. So, no matter what the price may be, shipping will be available to your country. Organic Basics do not deliver to US P.O. boxes, APO, FPO and DPO destinations.
Note that you'll have to pay duties and taxes separately, depending on the value of your shipment and your country tax rules.
As Tencel fibers exhibit a high level of absorbency which makes the sheets better to wear, they are more hygienic, and they dye very well, too.
You'll usually find they're more vibrant and less likely to fade over time.
Tencel has a more matte appearance than cotton, which looks crisper and cleaner.
In terms of durability, Tencel beats cotton again. If a cotton tee can last you for years, the tee made of Lyocell Tencel will last you even more and will look better too.
